A recipient retrieves and views the document as an image file or Adobe Acrobat PDF in the ordinary course of reading their email. This capability is significant in that the service enables more than four hundred thousand installed-base of fax machines in Hong Kong to become instantly "email compatible" for sending hard-copy documents directly to recipients who have an email address. The only other way to accomplish this task is to replace existing standard fax machines with expensive IP-enabled machines or IP adjunct devices. Our technology represents a simpler, cheaper and more universal solution.

The service includes a service telephone number and a online address book. A user predefines individual or group numeric codes for all recipient’s email addresses. To deliver a hard-copy document to an email address, the service telephone number is dialed first. The user is authenticated using an account number and password. This is followed by entering numeric code for the recipients. The document to be delivered is then placed in the fax machine tray and is scanned, then delivered via the Internet to the recipient's email. There are no busy signals and no fax cover sheets. FAXEASY works with any fax machine and anywhere in the world. A notification email is sent to the user and reports the status of delivery. The recipient receives an email with an attachment consisting of either an image file or an Adobe Acrobat PDF file which is the most popular document exchange format.

FAXEASY is the first Internet service to connect the standard fax machine with the Internet without additional devices for delivering paper-based documents to e-mail.
